Paris Para Olympic Medal Winner Palesha Goverdhan will get NPR 65 Lakhs reward from the government of Nepal
Taekwondo player Palesha Govardhan, who won a historic bronze medal for Nepal in the Paralympics held in Paris, France, will receive a prize money of 65 lakh rupees from the government.
According to the National Sports Development Regulations 2079, 65 lakh rupees should be given to the players who win bronze medals in Olympic Games and World Cup football in individual competitions. According to the rules, Palesha’s coach Kaviraj Negi Lama will get a prize of 5 lakh and the Nepal Taekwondo Association will get 11 lakh 70 thousand rupees.
According to the Rakhepa rules 2079, the gold-winning player will receive 113 million rupees and the silver-winning player will receive 97 million rupees.
In the ongoing Paris Paralympics held in Paris, France, Palesha won Nepal’s first medal in Olympic history by defeating Serbia’s Maria Missev 15-8 in the women’s under 57 kg K44 category. Even though Nepalese athletes have been participating in the Olympics for 6 decades, they have not been able to win a single game.
Palesha defeated Venezuela’s Morales 31-0 in the first match and qualified for the quarterfinals. But in the quarterfinals, Palesha was defeated 10-8 by Brazilian player Silvana Mayara Fernandez.
Then in the repechage, Palesha came close to the bronze medal by defeating France’s Sophie Cavarzan 2-1.
